Dwight's LWB

Dwight Johnson showed a new LWB he built for his wife, a previously rather unenthusiastic rider. She recently had back surgery and thought it might be time to try a recumbent, if they were ever going to do any more significant riding together. Turns out she LOVES it and can ride much longer without pain (surprise), so now she is the one who often pushes for a ride together. It sits up higher than usual, at her insistence.

(In subtle but important details, it is quite different from the typical homebuilt LWB, which usually are Tour Easy clones. Such as Rob Riggins' example in last month's notes. Mark)

The parts were mostly cannibalized from a police auction Specialized MTB. The seat comes off quickly and the stem folds, so it is easier than other LWBs to transport (even though it has a 64” wheelbase and an 87” overall length).
