Carl Gulbronson showed the new EGo all-electric (ie. no pedals) scooter he is starting to sell locally. It has almost a 25 mile range on the “go far” setting (and has regenerative braking to help with its range) and VERY quick acceleration on the “go fast” setting. It weighs about 120 pounds due to the two large battery packs, and it costs $1,000 or so, but talk to Carl privately if all you really want is to cannibalize some parts from one.
It is made in Taiwan and imported by a company in Rhode Island, with Carl as the local rep and reseller. Carl regaled us with stories about trying to get the Minnesota DOT to license the thing, and apparently it falls between the cracks of the various vehicle definitions – you can take that as a good thing or a not so good thing as you wish!
