1959 Jack Taylor Lugged Tourist #3322
This 22" frame had been owned by an Englishman and refurbished in the Taylor shop, probably in the '80s. After a few more thousand careful miles it was sent to an American as a gift in the '90s, along with front and rear racks. The new owner never built it up, and sold it to me in July 2004. Rack serial numbers match the frame, but had not been reinstalled since the respray.
I had aquired most of the components years ago. At little or no expence, after they were obsolete, but before they were collectable. After I got the frame, an old friend gave me the Lefal alloy fenders that had originaly been on his '63 Taylor tandem (Serial # 4601) and the NR rear derailleur.
The result, after much polishing and 2 tubes of Simichrome, is a bike that's not very original, but looks and rides great.
